2008/09 FESTIVE SEASON TRAFFIC CONTROL PROCEDURES

Metro Police will be controlling traffic entering Umdloti Beach during peak holiday periods as required. Road closures will take place once parking is full with effect from:

• DATES : 12 December 2008 and for the duration of the holiday season.

• A mobile control office will be located on the Main Road into Umdloti (opp. Wellesley Stables turn-off) to identify and assist Residents and Holidaymakers staying in Umdloti during above-mentioned period.

• eThekwini Municipality Resident & Visitor Discs can be obtained from UMDLOTI HARDWARE, Umdloti Centre, 1 South Beach Road, and should be displayed by Residents and Visitors on their car windscreens as previously. Residents must have available for inspection a utility bill (eg, electricity, water) as proof of residence in Umdloti.

• UMDLOTI RESIDENTS PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NEW DISCS ALLOCATED TO YOU ARE NOW PERMANENT AND SHOULD REMAIN ON YOUR MOTOR VEHICLE WINDSCREEN OR BE RETAINED FOR USE IN FUTURE.

• TEMPORARY RESIDENTS (those who have booked accommodation) are requested to have their booking confirmation on hand for inspection at the check point. Letting agents, Guest Houses and other accommodation establishments are to provide temporary residents with a VISITOR DISC on check-in or arrival. The disc must be returned to the establishment that issued the disc upon departure.

• Shops, restaurants and other businesses in Umdloti should provide their non-resident staff with letters confirming their place of work to avoid inconvenience.

• Residents expecting day visitors are requested to provide Metro Police with a list of guests' car registration numbers to facilitate access during congested periods.

• Residents are requested to assist Metro Police by not occupying public parking bays during the above-mentioned dates.
